Jeff Fuglestad, PE - Associate Civil Engineer


Jeff Fuglestad is an Associate in the firm and HDL’s Transportation Group Manager.  Jeff’s family has a long tradition of engineering in Alaska.  His father was Chief Engineer for the Alaska Railroad and his three brothers work in the surveying, engineering, and construction fields.  Jeff has 23 years of experience in surveying, engineering studies, roadway, and utility design for the Municipality of Anchorage, State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, City of Palmer, City of Wasilla, and Matanuska–Susitna Borough projects. In the past 15 years, Jeff has been involved with many of the larger highway projects in Alaska.  He has a deep knowledge of municipal and state roadway design requirements and the delivery of utility conflict reports, design study reports, cost-benefit analyses, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Jeff is knowledgeable in the Roadside Design Guide, Modern Roundabout Design, Highway Capacity Analysis, Syncro/SimTraffic simulations, Traffic Calming and Roundabouts, and the Interactive Highway Safety Design Model.  Jeff is the principal author of the True North Civil Design, a custom survey, civil site, utility, and roadway design software package used by HDL. He enjoys building and spending time at his family’s collection of remote Alaskan cabins.
